Dozens of folks from Larry's radio past and present will gather in KPFA's studios to share their memories with Larry: of radio in the Bay Area and what's changed and what's stayed the same! Read more about the show...
Award-winning broadcaster and journalist Larry Bensky is retiring from Pacifica Radio's KPFA after thirty eight years of working for the public radio network. Read about Larry's incredible career, and hear an audio interview with him about his farewell! Check out KPFA's Larry Bensky Tribute Page.
Internet radio broadcasting is in serious danger due to a recent decision by the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB). Internet broadcasters, including noncommercial stations like KPFA, are facing a dramatic increase in the royalties they must pay to the recording industry for the songs that stream on their websites -- an increase of up to 1200 percent! Many internet stations will be forced out of business as a result and the impoverished media landscape in this country will become ever narrower. Learn more at kpfa.org/savewebradio.
UPDATE: A bill, HR 2060, the "Internet Radio Equality Act" has been introduced in Congress to address excessive royalty fees. Read more at: savenetradio.org.
There are many ways to support KPFA! Help keep KPFA a strong and independent source of music, arts, news and information. Donations are tax-deductible.
